Wonderful Fundy Birds: Bald Eagle

It is likely if you travel to the shores of the Bay of Fundy that you will see Bald Eagles soaring overhead or perched in a tree or on a rock ledge at low tide. These beautiful and bold birds seem to have increased significantly in recent years particularly in the Quoddy area where they scrounge at the aquaculture sites and weirs. Large concentrations occur elsewhere around the Bay. Join the Sheffield Mills Eagle Watch coming up in late January. Check the map for details.

Don’t miss the Sheffield Mills Eagle Watch! The dates for the 2011 Eagle Watch

    January 29th, 30th
    February 5th and 6th

The schedule and music section of the website will be updated shortly…

    Important Notes

During Eagle Watch the eagles are fed between 8:00am and 10:00am in the morning at the corner of Middle Dyke and Bains roads. A large pile of chicken is laid for them, however, please be advised that there is no “garauntee” the eagles will choose to feed at that time.
Eagles are in the area from late November until early March.
January and early February are the best months for viewing.
Please drive safely avoiding sudden un-signalled stops.
Highway shoulders are not as wide as they may appear. When ditches are filled with snow, leave at least half the width of your vehicle on the pavement.
The Eagles are most plentiful during mid to late morning.
Many other raptors are also present in area during the Eagle season.
Displays will also be open February 6th and 7th.
Pick up a map indicating viewing sites.
