Red-necked Grebes? and Scoters

The grebes are still in Herring Cove bay, a big flock, around 75. They are moving with another flock of surf scoters about the same size. I can tell the scoters because I can see the white on the back of their necks, but the grebes are hard to see. They seem close to the size of the scoters so I am now leaning towards them being red- necked grebes. I wish I had a scope. Joyce

  1. Also the same big flock ( 100 or so) of oldsquaws is still moving around near the Deer Island ferry landing on Campobello. They have been in the same area for two weeks at least. J.
