Grebes at Campobello

Print Friendly, PDF & Email

Feb.18th, Herring Cove, Campobello
There were about 75 grebes today out in the bay. Too far to see very well. I think they are horned grebes. They seem to have black bills and they did not seem to be large enough for red necked grebes. There have been horned grebes around in bunches all winter. The two grebes in the foreground may or may not have been the same grebes. They were horned grebes. However, I would appreciate input on this. One or two necks on enlargement look reddish, but it could just be the camera. I went back twice but they were very far out. Joyce
